golden in monochrome II

San Francisco, California, September 2012

It may well be a character defect but there is a primal, base part of my person that wants to showcase a familiar scene in an unfamiliar way. It's of zero, actually negative interest to me to take yet another photograph in the exact same way that it has been composed and presented a thousand times prior. While nothing new is under the sun, and I have no pretense of being singular in my way of seeing the world, I love it when a photograph emerges of a tried and true setting in a fresh way. After returning from a day-trip to Muir Woods and having a transcendent experience in Cathedral Grove amidst the Giants, I hung out of our friend's sunroof to capture this shot of the Golden Gate bridge. It's slightly abstracted which allows the sculptural components of the bridge to come alive, hopefully in a new way.
